Showtime's $150M Mayweather-Alvarez record sets new PPV record
September 2013

Showtime Networks said Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez super welterweight championship fight generated nearly $150 million in pay-per-view revenue, setting a new industry record.

The fight, which Mayweather won, generated about 2.2 million PPV buys in cable and satellite homes. While it wasn't as big of a draw as the 2.48 million PPV buys that Mayweather scored in 2007 for his fight with Oscar De La Hoya, distributors charged as much as $75 to watch the Alvarez fight. The Mayweather - De La Hoya bout cost $50.

Mayweather received a check for $41.5 million for last weekend's fight, which was held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
